The Ghana Football Association has announced that Coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle has been appointed the new Head Coach of the Male National Under-23 team, the Black Meteors.

According to GFA, the coach’s appointment brings a wealth of experience to the role following his distinguished career in coaching with club sides Accra Great Olympics, and Bechem United.

Currently, the Head Coach of Ghana Premier League side, Nations FC, Coach Kassim Mingle has also coached extensively at the Academy, Colts, and second tier levels of Ghana Football.

The GFA in a statement signed by its communications department indicated that the latter’s experiences have equipped him with a deep understanding of how to develop talent from a very early age.

“With a passion for nurturing young talent, Coach Kassim Mingle is the ideal candidate to lead the Black Meteors in their quest to regain their past glory. The team, which was the first African nation to win an Olympic medal in football at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, is seeking to rediscover its footing as a powerhouse at its level in world football.

Coach Kassim Ocansey had a very active footballing career playing for then top tier teams Dumas Boys of GTP, GIHOC Stars, Sekondi Eleven Wise, and Accra Standfast over a period of eight years,” the GFA said.

The GFA, according to the statement, is confident that Coach Ocansey’s expertise and experience will be invaluable in building a formidable Black Meteors team that would be ultimately successful.
