President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Sammy Gyamfi as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).
The appointment of the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took effect Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Mr. Gyamfi would be responsible for setting up the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a key promise in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 manifesto.
Announcing the appointment in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, indicated that the establishment of the GoldBod will be under the direction of the finance minister.
The statement also highlighted the NDC administration’s commitment to economic revitalisation and sustainable development through the GoldBod initiative.
“It will include formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector and providing mining support services for the industry,” parts of the statement stressed.
