A former Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Anita Desoso, has called on the President, John Dramani Mahama, to fulfill his promises to women in Ghana.
According to her, President Mahama promised Ghanaians that 30% women of his appointees will be women.
Anita Desoso in an interview on the Angel Morning Show on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, said asserted that women play major roles in politics and should not hesitate to appoint more women.
She further explained that the female population in Ghana is considerably larger and hence men deserve equal representation especially when women are educated and valuable contributors to politics.
“Even though we have a woman as vice president in the country, I disagree with his current ministerial appointments. It seems that women are underrepresented in his appointments, and I believe it is about time women demonstrate to amend the constitution to ensure that women receive 50% of appointments,” she said.
Anita Desoso added that giving 30% to women is insufficient and believes they should be granted more ministerial positions.
