EC Boss must be removed, she’s committed more serious breaches – Solomon Owusu

A senior member of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has said that former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei performed better than the current head, Jane Adukwei Mensah.

According to him, Jane Mensah have for the past years acted in ways that breached article 42 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution which grants every citizen who is 18 years and older and of sound mind the right to register and vote.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, he explained that, the EC chairperson through her actions disenfranchised some citizens .

“Article 42 under Chapter Seven of our Constitution states that every citizen of Ghana who is 18 years of age or older and of sound mind has the right to vote and is entitled to be registered as a voter for the purposes of public elections….but that did not happen. So as you can see, Jane Mensah’s administration is worse than that of Charlotte Osei,” Owusu asserted.

He added that the EC chairperson is incompetent for preventing some Ghanaians from voting for their political parties and therefore, he supports her removal as head of the EC.

Solomon Owusu pointed out that the performance of the EC chairperson during the 2024 election was poor and that she does not deserve to continue in her role.
