Popular Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter, ‘Pooley’ has been reported dead after he was stabbed multiple times in Nsuatre following a Ghana Premier League encounter.

According to the club, the deceased succumbed to his injury at the hospital following the incident.

Pooley was said to have been stabbed during violent scenes after the Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC at Nsuatre.

The match, played at Nana Konamansah Park in Nsuatre, ended in a 1-0 defeat for Kotoko following a late goal from substitute Gabriel Bonnah.

A club statement from Asante Kotoko alleged ill treatment following their arrival leading to tensions at the stadium.

They noted that sections of the home crowd displayed hostility, escalating as missiles were thrown at the Kotoko bench multiple times, creating an unsafe environment for players and officials.

According to the statement the violence worsened leading to supporters invading the pitch, attacking their goalkeeper Mohammed Camara while continuing to hurl objects at him.

It was during the chaos that Pooley was stabbed and later died at the hospital, Asante Kotoko added in its accounts.

While condemning the unfortunate incident, the Kumasi-based club demanded for investigation and swift action from handlers of the league to ensure those found guilty are published.
