The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has banned Nsoatreman Football Club from using Nana Kronamansah Park to host their home games following the series of violence that characterized their game against Asante Kotoko on Sunday that claimed one life.

The FA invoked Article 14(2) of the Premier League Regulations, to ban the team until further notice

“This action ensures the safety of all stakeholders while investigations proceed,” it said in a statement.

Investigation
The FA has also tasked the Security Committee, led by DCOP Lydia Donkor and the FA Prosecutors, with immediately moving to the site and gathering all necessary evidence.

These include match reports and relevant documentation, which the FA’s Disciplinary Committee will use to adjudicate all sporting matters.

Meanwhile, the GFA has formally engaged the Ghana Police Service to immediately conduct a full-scale investigation into the incident and bring all perpetrators to justice.

“We expect law enforcement agencies to deploy all necessary tools to ensure that those responsible for these heinous acts are identified.”

The statement further reminded all clubs, players, officials, and supporters that there is zero tolerance for acts of violence, intimidation, and hooliganism in Ghana football.

“The FA will not hesitate to impose severe sanctions on any club, official, or supporter found culpable of engaging in or inciting such behaviour,” it emphasized.

Attack

Ardent Asante Kotoko fan, Frimpong Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, has been stabbed to death following the 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC.

This followed a melee that marred the game at Nana Koramansah Park at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.

He died at a hospital while receiving treatment, Kotoko confirmed in a statement.

The FA in its statement added, “The GFA extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and wishes a swift recovery to those injured.”
