The Nsoatre Traditional Council has sympathized with the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, and the bereaved family of a devoted club supporter who lost his life at the stadium.
In a statement available to Angelonline.com.gh, the council condemned the incident, emphasizing that football should never divide societies or nations.
“This unfortunate behaviour happened on the stool land of Nsoatre which we see as unfortunate due to the cordial relationship between Nsoatreman and Asanteman which is dated back to 1740.
Nsoatre Traditional Council express our heartfelt condolence to Otumfuo, the family of the deceased the widow and the entire Kumasi Asante Kotoko football fraternity.”
The Traditional Council reiterated that football, as a sport, should bring people together rather than cause division.
“It continued and assures the Asantehene, the security agencies and the general public of its collaboration to ensure they uncover the perpetrator(s) responsible for the fatal stabbing of deceased.
To the Traditional Council, the people of Nsoatre are peaceful citizens thereby any lawless act shall not be superintend within the catchment area.
We want to assure Asanteman and the entire country that, Nsoatre Traditional Council would do everything within our means to uncover the perpetrators to face the laws of this country.
We want to assure all peace loving citizens that Nsoatre is a peaceful town and Nananom would not superintend any unlawful acts that would bring disgrace and lawlessness into this country.”
The council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the strong relationship between Nsoatreman and Asanteman and pledged to work closely with security agencies to seek justice for the bereaved family.
