Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson says the country’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded remarkable growth in 2024 which surpasses expectations.
According to him, the significant growth highlighted the resilience of the economy despite global and domestic challenges.
A development, Dr. Ato Forson said, exceeded projections and reflected the impact of policies implemented over the past year.
“Ghana’s real GDP growth in 2024 was remarkable, surpassing expectations and demonstrating the economy’s capacity for recovery.”
The minister made the observation during his presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11.
Proceeds from illegal small-scale mining, also known as ‘galamsey’ included part of the recorded growth.
Dr. Ato Forson added that the John Mahama administration is committed to working hard and ensuring balanced economic growth with environmental sustainability while addressing fiscal vulnerabilities.
Additionally, the government is also focused on strengthening key economic sectors and implementing policies that promote responsible and sustainable economic activities for long-term stability and inclusive growth.
