A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Ellen Ama Daaku, syas she would have been surprised if President John Dramani Mahama, had maintained the immediate past Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, in his administration.

According to her, Dr. Dampare’s performance was nothing to speak about after the violent incidents that followed the 2024 general elections which left the country in chaos.

She pointed out that Dr. Dampare could have done something about the chaos that happened after the elections, however, he refused to take action.

During her submission on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on March 17, 2025, Ama Daaku said Dr Dampare’s refusal to act when people were damaging government properties, left many to wonder if he was still in control.

“When people started going around the country destroying properties, as police head you were in this country, you and your people, what did you do about it? After doing all these, do you expect the new president to have trust in you and give you the mandate?”

She added: “If you want us to know that you want to help Ghana…not just that you want to maintain your position like after the election, you should’ve arrested those involved in the chaos as police head… I will be surprised if President Mahama had maintained him,” she stated.
