The Dansoman circuit has remanded a 28-year-old teacher, Enoch Arthur for defiling a 14-year-old pupil of his school contrary to section 101 of the criminal code 1960,ACT 29.

Briefing the court, Prosecutor Chief Portia Nuarko told the court the complainant, Mariam Osman Ahmed is the Proprietress of Educational School Complex located at Ablekuma Curve. She however lives at Ablekuma Pentagon.

The Victim is a fourteen [14] year old Junior High School Form 2 pupil and a foster child of the complainant.

The accused person on the other hand Enock Arthur, is a Teacher and lives at Awoshie Mangoasi.

He teaches computing and Career Technology at the same school.

As a result of the distance between the complainant’s house and the school, an accommodation facility has been provided for the victim and her 12-year-old younger brother, Solomon Setsoafia Quarshigah at the school.

She said to prepare the victim and her classmates for the upcoming BECE, a special morning and after school classes were organized for them.

The accused and his colleague teachers volunteered to teach them.

In the month of December, 2024, the accused person took advantage of the vulnerability of the victim and started having unprotected sex with her.

After school on Tuesday March 11, 2025, the victim’s younger brother met the accused and the victim in a classroom and he became suspicious of them.

The accused, however, cautioned the witness not to inform anyone of what he saw. Not convinced, the witness called the proprietress on phone and made a complaint to her.

Subsequently, the accused was brought to the Anyaa Police Station and a formal report was filed.

A medical form was issued to the complainant for the victim to be medically examined.

The medical report dated March 14, 2025, proved positive for defilement.

The report further confirmed the victim is pregnant for six weeks 2 days. The birth certificate of the victim is attached.

During investigation, the accused admitted the offence. He stated that he had had unprotected sex with the victim in the school’s computer Laboratory.

He was charged with the offence and brought before your honourable court.

The court presided over by Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasia, remanded the accused to police custody after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.
