Government has denied claims that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has commenced investigations into the official travels of former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during his tenure.

According to a government spokesperson, there is no iota of truth in the supposedly news making airwaves.

The rebuttal comes after Asaase Radio reported that Akufo-Addo who left office on 7 January 2025, after serving two terms in office was under investigations.

The report carried on Friday, March 28, explained that officials of the NIB reached out to the former Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Mrs. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, inviting her to attend a meeting to assist them with ongoing investigations into the travels of the former stateman.

However, the spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu in a post on his Facebook wall rubbished the report.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Presidency has not given any order to the NIB to look into President Akufo Addo’s travels,” the post said.

Meanwhile, the NIB has not commented on the development yet.
