Angelonline.com.gh understands that officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) have reportedly stormed the residence of the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, to arrest him.
The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, confirmed this in a post on his Facebook wall around 13:00 GMT.
“NIB is currently at Hon. Ntim Fordjour’s residence to arrest him,” he said in the post.
He described the move as part of a growing trend of political persecution and called for an end to the practice. “Say No To State Intimidation,” he expressed.
Though the reason behind the NIB’s action remains unknown, it could be linked to the recent brouhaha after the lawmaker alleged that two suspicious flights landed at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
There is no official communique from the NIB at the time of filing this report.
