The Senior Divisional Chief of the Akwamu State in the Eastern Region, Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V (Osomanyawa), has urged Ghanaian politicians to stay away from chieftaincy matters in the country.

Speaking to Angel News at Akwamufie after his inauguration and swearing-in, he expressed concerns about the spate at which some politicians have over the years been accused of indulging into chieftancy related issues.

Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V, therefore, advised politicians to desist from exploring their powers on issues involving chiefs as such actions hinder development within various traditional corridors.

“Desist from chieftaincy matters. Chieftaincy existed before politics, so allow us to settle our own matters,” he stated.

He expressed readiness of traditional authorities in the country in support of politicians with the necessary resources for national development.

Nana Akonnor Bekai Ababio V (Osomanyawa) called on all the youth and people of Akwamu State to rally behind the Akwamumanhene, Odeneho Kwarfo Akoto III and himself, as they will continue to engage national leaders to help utilize the resources of Akwamu for the benefit of the people, emphasizing the vast potential within the region.

“We will make sure the politicians utilize our resources for the benefit of the people of Akwamuman,” he concluded.
