The Member of Parliament for the Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has taken a significant step towards fulfilling the purpose of her ‘Adwoa Food Bank’ initiative.

The ‘Adwoa Food Bank’ — one of several policies introduced by the MP — aims to provide occasional support to vulnerable individuals in the area with food items.

Beneficiaries of the initiative include the aged, widows, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

The maiden distribution supported the Aburi Pensioners Association and vulnerable individuals in the Adammrobe and Pokrom communities, where over 100 aged persons and more than 30 deaf individuals benefited.

The distribution was made during the Easter Celebration

Speaking in a video clip following the two-day distribution exercise, Madam Dziwornu expressed her excitement at fulfilling her pledge, reaffirming her commitment to ensuring that no constituents is left behind.

Highlighting the long-term vision of the initiative, the MP said it was driven by love and a desire to make a positive impact, stating that it “embodies my dedication to service, dignity, and community support.”

“I made a pledge to support the aged occasionally with food items, and by God’s grace, the maiden edition coincided with the Easter celebration to ensure that these individuals live happily and healthily. What we promised has today become a reality, thanks to God,” she stated.

The MP assured constituents of her continued support through life-changing policies aimed at fostering development and improving the standard of living in Akuapem South.

“The smiles on their faces and the gratitude in their eyes are reminders that our work is making a difference. The Adwoa Food Bank is just the beginning. We’re committed to continued support and progress, ensuring that Akuapem South receives the care and resources it deserves.

“This won’t be the last; there will be many more to come. I believe this project will give hope to most of our sisters and brothers, helping them live better lives,” Madam Dziwornu added, emphasising the importance of love and a balanced diet for the vulnerable.

Some beneficiaries of the initiative praised and expressed deep appreciation for the MP, noting that the gesture was the first of its kind in the area.

They offered prayers for strength and long life for the MP so she could continue supporting them in various ways.

Among the achievements credited to Madam Dziwornu since her election in December 2024 are the launching of the ‘Adwoa Food Bank’ and the opening of the MP’s constituency office in Akuapem South.

These initiatives reflect her commitment to her slogan: “Leadership in Action, Akuapem South Deserves Better” and “Onyame Nti Adwoa Bɛyɛ”, meaning “With God, Adwoa will deliver.”
