The Ghana Bar Association at its Mid-Year conference held at Labadi Beach Hotel has passed a resolution to call on the President to revoke the suspension of the learned Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.

Members of the Bar, who now have the benefit of the petitions and the responses of the learned Chief Justice against them were displeased with the import and tone of the statement of the Ghana Bar Association dated the 24th day of April, 2025. Members took turns to criticise the suspension of the Chief Justice based on the said petitions and the determination of a prima facie case and called for a constitutional instrument to guide the the processes for the removal of Judges.

The Bar also resolved to come out to also condemn all prejudicial statements made by political actors before and after the suspension of the Chief Justice which suggest the removal of the Chief Justice upon the assumption of power and the presentation of petitions against her removal.
