President John Dramani Mahama has put forth his nominations for Chief Executives across 40 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Ashanti Region.
This decision aligns with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.
The announcement was made public through a statement issued by the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim.
These nominees are now poised to undergo a crucial approval process, requiring the support of at least two-thirds of the members from their respective assemblies.
With these latest appointments, the total number of MMDCEs appointed by the President has risen to 256 out of a possible 261 nationwide, with several already having received confirmation from their assemblies.
