In the quest for development across the various municipal, metropolitan, and district areas in the country, President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees in four areas in the Eastern Region have been confirmed.
These areas include the Okere and Asuogyaman Districts, as well as the Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo Municipalities, all within the region.
In the Okere District, Eric William Ayettey was confirmed with 26 out of 31 votes.

In the Asuogyaman District, Godwin Bobobee secured 83% of the votes from the Assembly Members for his confirmation.

John Martey, the MCE nominee for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, obtained 84.4% of the votes to secure the green light.

On his part, Francis Akumatey Addo of the Yilo Krobo Municipality received a 100% endorsement for his MCE position.

The confirmations, which took place at separate events, were held on Friday, May 9, 2025, with the assembly members overwhelmingly endorsing the nominees.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, swore them into office to confirm their statuses.
With their mandates as District and Municipal Chief Executives (DCEs and MCEs), they are mandated to represent the President at the local government level to foster development.
This brings the total number of confirmed and sworn-in MMDCES to 16 out of 33, with 17 more to go as efforts to strengthen local governance continue.
The confirmation process is expected to resume on Monday, May 12.
