President John Dramani Mahama says a new expressway is being designed between Accra and Kumasi to reduce travel time between the two major cities to just two and a half hours.

According to him, Cabinet will soon approve key projects under the Big Push infrastructure program.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital, on Thursday, 15th May 2025, the President stated that a significant number of the priority projects will understandably be in the road sector.

He added that they will focus on the dualization of major highways including the Accra-Kumasi, Accra-Takoradi, and Accra-Aflao roads.

According to him, they are also going to tackle major bridges such as the Dambai Bridge, Ekye-Amanfrom Bridge, and the rehabilitation of the Buipe, Daboya, and Yapei bridges.
