Businessman, Akwasi Addai Odike, is urging President John Dramani Mahama to use the case of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako with the state, as a case study to hold individuals causing harm to the country accountable.
He indicated that just as ‘Chairman Wontumi’ is being dealt with through his continued detention at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), other individuals suspected of having wrecked the nation should also face the same.
He made the statement during a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Monday, June 2, 2025.
In light of running a corruption-free administration, Odike urged the President to remain focused in his fight and ensure that the NPP’s threats and public outcry are overlooked, and that anyone who has, in one way or another, caused harm to the country go unpunished.
“Don’t let the NPPs threats scare you to prevent you from punishing those who fall culpable before the law; we all support you and even Nana Addo supports you and has approved that anyone who committed a crime during his government will be dealt with,” he said Monday, June 2, 2025.

Odike also argued that Ghanaians, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, back Mahama’s fight against corruption, which Odike described as being on the right path, ensuring offenders are brought to book.
According to him, President Mahama’s accountable governance and fulfillment of his campaign promises would strengthen the public’s trust in him.
“This is a litmus test for you to prove to Ghanaians about your manifesto that, you will fish out everyone who did Ghana bad and deal with them latest by one year so that Ghanaians will admit the fact that you are walking the talk so that Ghana will be deterrent from abusing power to destroy the state,” he added.
He further called out NPP supporters who have deliberately ignored the fact that Chairman Wontumi has caused harm to the state while defending him.
He cited a scenario from his political campaign at Manso Adubia, located in the Ashanti Region, where residents complained about Chairman Wontumi destroying their forest reserves through his small-scale mining activities.
“Some people have gotten time to defend a person who is fighting against humanity; meanwhile they are victims of the water bodies he polluted. Is the brain working?” he queried.
