The Eastern Regional Police Command has impounded 150 bags of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp at Nkurakan in the Yilo Krobo Constituency.

This follows the arrest of two suspected tipper trucks in the area for allegedly attempting to smuggle the substance.

The interception was carried through intelligence led operation on June 11, 2025, at Apesua near Nkurakan.

In a police statement signed by Superintendent Ebenezer Tetteh of the Public Affairs Unit of the Police Command confirmed the interception of the two Howo Sino Tipper Trucks with registration numbers GN 993-14 and GG 3674-20 loaded with the substances under the tips of sands.

The identity of the suspects currently in police custody is being withheld as investigations continue.

Police say they are working to establish the full details of the smuggling attempt and identify all persons involved.
