The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has urged the newly graduated recruits of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and discipline as they embark on their careers.
The recruits, who underwent a rigorous six-month paramilitary training in Assin Fosu in the Central Region, were commended for their comportment and discipline during the Passing-Out Parade held at the Immigration Service Training School (ISTS) in Assin Fosu.
Mr. Muntaka emphasised the critical role the Ghana Immigration Service plays in ensuring border security and the stability of the nation, noting that the recruits’ work will have a direct impact on national security.
The Minister highlighted the arrest of over 2,000 undocumented migrants last month, underscoring the pressing need for vigilance in addressing irregular migration.
He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to providing logistical support and specialised training to tackle evolving border security threats.
Mr. Muntaka congratulated the recruits on their successful completion of the training programme and wished them well as they embarked on their new journey in life and service to the nation.
“I am informed that the passing out today is the 30th recruit parade of the service. They have gone through a rigorous six-month military training. I have no doubt that their training has equipped them adequately for them to excel in the career they have chosen.
“As they pass out and don the distinguished rank of our security services, I want to emphasise the critical role the Ghana Immigration Service plays in ensuring border security and the stability of our nation.
“You are expected to be the gatekeepers of our nation, and your work will have a direct impact on our national security. Let me remind the recruits that as they pass out today to join the Ghana Immigration Service, I urge them to be beacons of discipline and responsibility.
“They are not just personnel of the service but also ambassadors of our nation,” he stated.
He further added that His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to providing the necessary logistical support to ensure that security personnel receive intensive training to strengthen border protection efforts.
