Numbering 25 approved private Senior High Schools (SHSs) have been added to the 2025 school selection process for Junior High School (JHS) graduates under the Free SHS programme.

The Ministry of Education placed these approved schools under Category E school selection and will operate as day institutions.

Notable names among the list included Ideal College, (Accra), Modern Senior High School (Kpong – Eastern Region), Golden Gate Senior High School (Shama – Western Region), S.T Luke Senior High School (Mankessim – Central Region), Joy Standard College (Asokwa and Bosomtwi – Ashanti Region).

Likewise the public Schools, they will equally offer programmes such as General Arts, General Science, Business, Technical, Visual Arts, Home Economics, and Agriculture.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has since extended the deadline for the school selection process to Wednesday, June 25, 2025, following this inclusion.

In a statement, it clarified that all existing guidelines and procedures remain unchanged.

According to the Ministry, the move is aimed at expanding access to second-cycle education and reducing pressure on public SHSs.
