Lionel Messi curled in a stunning free-kick to give Inter Miami a 2-1 victory over Porto in Group A.
The MLS side were held to a goalless draw by Al Ahly in their opening clash and then had to come from behind against the Portuguese side.
Samu put Porto ahead in only the sixth minute from the penalty spot after Noah Allen had brought down Joao Mario.
But Inter Miami equalised within two minutes of the second half. Marcelo Weigandt crossed for Telasco Segovia to hammer the leveller into the top corner.
Messi then produced a moment of magic, bending a 25-yard free-kick into the top right corner for his 50th goal in just 61 appearances for the club. It was his 68th free-kick goal of his career.
Inter Miami sit second in Group A, level on points with leaders Palmeiras.
