Former Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE) for Mfanteman, Ike Lord Ennu says the former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) never endorsed former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their presidential candidate.
In clarifying the public notion on behalf of his colleagues, he urged Ghanaians to disregard such claims.
Addressing the media on Monday, June 23, 2025, he stated that meeting with a candidate did not imply automatic endorsement, but rather an opportunity for engagement and discussion.
“We heard Hon. Kennedy Agyapong wanted to have a meeting with us, following our former vice president’s request to also have a meeting with us so we had to schedule meeting them individually to this week.
“We started the meeting on Thursday, we went to meet Kennedy and on Saturday and Sunday, we met Bryan Acheampong who highlighted his vision for the party and this morning, we came to have a meeting with our former vice president,” he explained.
According to him, there was no agreement to declare support for any candidate’s presidential aspirations.
“We never decided on any platform that we were coming to declare for one party, we did not do that for Hon. Kenned,Hon. Bryan and likewise our former vice president,” he emphasized.
Mr. Ennu assured the public that to maintain party unity, they would avoid the mistakes of the 2024 elections, where constituency chairmen’s declarations for individual candidates led to division and defeat.
“For the unity of the party, if we repeat what we did for the 2024 elections this coming 2028, where chairmen of other constituencies declared for one candidate or the other which brought division and led to our defeat, it will go against us,” he said.
