The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Eric Obeng Darko, former Headmaster of Dampong Senior High School, in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects include 48-year-old Prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah and Mubarak Mohammed, aged 38.

They were arrested in separate operations on June 9 and 17 2025, respectively, and were put before the Kodie and Suame District Courts.

According to police preliminary investigation, in 2024, suspect prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah collected an unknown amount of money from the deceased under the pretext of unearthing an ancient family gold for him.

“As part of the arrangement, suspect Prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah went to the deceased’s house at Bampenase near Mamponteng at night with suspect Mubarak Mohammed and dug out some 20 pieces of yellowish substances which she claimed same to be gold that needed to be purified at her church premises before use or sale,” the police explained.

Suspect Prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah is said to have, however, evaded all attempts by the deceased to meet with her for the purification of the said gold.

She later engaged suspect Mubarak Mohammed and three other suspects who are currently at large to abduct and kill the victim before he could arrive at her church for the said purification.
