Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Justice Blay has opened up about his exit from the club and made several shocking claims about life in the team’s camp during his stay with the Kumasi-based team.

Speaking on Pure FM, Blay revealed that he sensed he was no longer in the club’s plans even before management officially informed him.

“I knew I was not going to be part of Kotoko’s team. I sensed it during our camp ahead of the MTN FA Cup game against Golden Kick FC.

“I was later called into a meeting and told that I am no longer in the plans of the club. The explanation they gave was that they are not only looking at performance,” he stated and quoted by Bright Yeboah Taylor of Pure FM.

He added that he overheard a private conversation between Nana Apinkra and coach Kwesi Appiah, where one of them was heard saying, “I like Kwame,” which further confirmed his suspicion that sides has been taken.

But beyond football, Blay also addressed accusations about his off-field lifestyle, particularly claims that he was a heavy drinker.

“People have been misinformed that I’m the only drunkard in the club, but that’s not true,” he said.

He named teammates Joseph Ablor and Guinea import Camara Mohammed as players who, according to him, also engaged in smoking ‘Shisha’.

The former Medeama SC midfielder also revealed some dramatic personal conflicts within the team.

He alleged that Camara Mohammed snatched his girlfriend, which even led to a police case during a confrontation between himself and the lady.

He also the lifted the veil indicating that Kwame Poku also betrayed him by snatching over his ‘sugar mummy’.

“That’s where I even assaulted the security man at the club house because of the tension,” he confessed.

“I am clarifying this because it has been twisted.”

Justice Blay and Kotoko mutually agreed to terminate his contract after the 2024/25 season, despite him having one more year remaining.
