The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with religious institutions to enhance healthcare delivery, especially in underserved rural communities.

He stated that the government, the state, will deploy qualified nurses and doctors to complement the efforts of faith-based hospitals, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every corner of the country.

“It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that healthcare facilities are accessible everywhere. So while the church embarked on such construction, we are thankful to them and assure them of the necessary support,” he said.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia made these remarks as Special Guest of Honour at the inauguration and groundbreaking ceremony of a community hospital and school project spearheaded by the Saviour Church of Ghana at Adansi Wuruyie in the Adansi South District.

He commended religious bodies for their immense contributions to Ghana’s development, particularly in the education and health sectors.

As part of his support, he pledged 500 bags of cement for the hospital project and encouraged MMDCEs and other stakeholders to contribute meaningfully.

General Superintendent of the Saviour Church for the Wuruyie and Assin Breku Zones and former DCE for Adansi South, Benjamin Anhwere, revealed that residents currently travel long distances to access healthcare in places like Assin Fosu and Obuasi.

He said the proposed facility will significantly ease that burden.

The planned hospital, he noted, will be a 100-bed facility with essential units including a theatre, children’s ward, male and female wards, and a maternity unit.

He revealed that the construction will commence with an initial GH¢2 million, and the project is expected to be completed within two years.

The Head of the Saviour Church and former Council of State member, Opanin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, emphasized that good health is vital to spiritual growth and effective worship.

He reaffirmed the church’s commitment to establishing health facilities nationwide to meet the physical and spiritual needs of citizens.
