The Forestry Commission has initiated investigations into allegations of harassment and extortion at the Sokoban Wood Village following widespread media coverage.

In a rejoinder issued by its Corporate Affairs & Media Relations Unit, the Commission acknowledged the public concern and confirmed that it has invited stakeholders.

They included members of the Sokoban Wood Village, executives of the Domestic Lumber Traders Association (DOLTA), and the Domestic Lumber Millers Association of Ghana (DOLMAG) to a meeting scheduled for Friday, July 25,  2025 at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra.

“The Forestry Commission is investigating the issues raised and has invited members of the Sokoban Wood Village, the executives of DOLTA and DOLMAG among others for a meeting… to address the issues,” the statement read.
