The Movement for Change has expressed deep sorrow and solemn reverence following the passing of renowned Ghanaian hilife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, widely known as Daddy Lumba.

In a tribute, the Movement described Daddy Lumba as one of Ghana’s greatest musical icons, whose voice echoed through the hearts of the nation in moments of joy, pain, reflection, and triumph.

“Ghana mourns not just the loss of a celebrated highlife musician, but the departure of a cultural colossus,” the tributes read.

The Movement noted that for over three decades, Daddy Lumba gave expression to the deepest emotions of Ghanaians, turning the rhythms of life into melodies that will remain eternal.

It highlighted his early rise as a musical prodigy from Nsuta and his transformation of Ghanaian hilife with originality, poetic genius, and vocal versatility.

According to the tribute, he broke barriers, redefined artistry, and gave Ghanaians a sense of ownership over a unique cultural identity.

Whether through the rhythm of Aben Wɔ Ha, the introspection of Theresa, or the gospel tones of Mesom Jesus, Daddy Lumba resonated with people across all stages of life.

The Movement emphasized that beyond music, Daddy Lumba’s legacy lies in his bold authenticity and courage to be himself in an era that demanded conformity.

His example, it said, gave others permission to be truly Ghanaian.

“As a Movement committed to the rebirth of a proud, confident, and united Ghana, we honour Daddy Lumba not only as a musical icon, but as a cultural pathfinder,” it stated.

The Movement extended condolences to his family, loved ones, and the entire artistic community, affirming that while the music fades and silence sets in, legends do not die, they echo.

“May his soul rest in perfect harmony. And may his voice continue to rise in the heartbeat of a grateful nation,” the statement concluded.
