Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has joined the nation in mourning the devastating helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight public servants, including two sitting ministers.

Mr. Kufuor conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, along with six others perished while undertaking national duty.

The former President described the incident as a shocking moment for Ghana, urging citizens to honour the fallen through unity and a shared commitment to national service.

His message extended deep condolences to the bereaved families, friends, and colleagues, and offered prayers for strength and healing.

Mr. Kufuor, who led the country from 2001 to 2009, called for reflection, not only on the lives lost, but on the values they stood for.

“May we honour their memory by striving for compassion, unity and common purpose in serving our nation, Ghana,” he said in a statement released on August 6, 2025.
