President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans for a series of national events to honour the eight individuals who perished in the tragic military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.

In a national address on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the President said the country will come together for an Evening of Reflections and Memorial on Saturday, 9th August at 5:00 p.m. at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, to pay tribute to the departed heroes.

“The nation will gather… in honour of our departed colleagues,” Mahama said.

He also announced that books of condolence will be opened simultaneously at several key locations across the country beginning Sunday, 10th August through Thursday, 14th August 2025.

These include:

  • Ministry of Defence
  • Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters
  • National Democratic Congress headquarters
  • NADMO head office

The President further revealed that a state funeral will be held on Friday, 15th August at the Black Star Square, with an inter-denominational service to honour the eight victims.

“My brothers and sisters, countrymen and women, may God bless their souls, May God bless Ghana.” the President said in closing.
