The National Communications Authority (NCA) has formally notified MultiChoice Ghana Limited of its intention to suspend the company’s authorization to operate its Subscription Management Service for Satellite Television Broadcasting, citing concerns over high subscription fees.
The NCA, in a press release dated August 7, 2025, stated that the proposed suspension is being pursued under Section 13 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775).
The regulatory action stems from what the Authority describes as a pricing model “inimical to the public interest.”
MultiChoice Ghana, which manages the DStv Pay TV Direct-to-Home Bouquet in the country, has been given “thirty (30) days” to respond.
According to NCA, the company is expected to submit its views, propose remedial actions, and file a written statement of objections to the suspension of the authorisation.
MultiChoice Ghana has yet to issue a public response.
The NCA reminder aligns with the directive of the Communications Ministry to suspend the license of MultiChoice after an August 7, deadline, aimed at protecting consumer interests and ensuring fair market practices.
