Black Wednesday: NIC shares in Ghana’s pain
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The National Insurance Commission (NIC) has described the passing of the eight individuals who died in Wednesday’s helicopter crash as a significant loss not only to the nation but to the world.

The NIC noted that the accident was a devastating blow to Ghana’s ongoing national renewal, especially with the loss of individuals described as prominent and strong pillars of service, commitment, sacrifice, dedication, and vision.

“This tragic event is a deep wound to our nation and a painful situation by the absence of such visionary and selfless individuals. Their dedication, service, and unwavering commitment to Ghana will forever remain a guiding light,” a statement signed by the acting Commissioner of Insurance, Dr. Abiba Zakariah, said.

The Commission further urged the public to draw inspiration from the lives of the departed, whose dedication to national service should continue to guide the country’s path.

The NIC also conveyed its sympathies to the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama, and the entire Government of Ghana.

“On behalf of the Board, Management, and Staff, the NIC extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Government of Ghana, and all citizens grieving this immense loss. This moment touches us all, and we acknowledge the shared sorrow that stretches beyond individual families to affect the entire nation.

“We take a moment to honour their legacy, a legacy built on courage, purpose, and an enduring desire to serve. Even in death, their lives remind us of the values we must uphold: integrity, sacrifice, and a relentless pursuit of a better Ghana.

“As we navigate this time of national mourning, may we find strength in our unity, comfort in our shared memories, and renewed determination to live out the ideals they championed.

“Once again, we extend our deepest condolences to His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, and the people of Ghana, and especially to the families who have suffered this irreplaceable loss,” it stated.
