More than 490 youth organisers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), including both substantive and deputy youth leaders from constituencies across the nation, have collected nomination forms for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in anticipation of the party’s presidential primary in January 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Isaac Obeng, the Constituency Youth Organiser for Okaikoi South, hailed Dr Bawumia as the only candidate capable of securing victory for the NPP in the upcoming 2028 general elections.

This endorsement follows a strategic meeting held on July 29, 2025, where representatives from various constituencies highlighted Dr Bawumia’s exceptional leadership, proven track record, and visionary outlook for Ghana’s future as compelling reasons for their support.

During a lively gathering, the youth organisers, chanting songs in enthusiastic approval of his candidacy, presented the forms to Dr Bawumia at his campaign office. “We want you to use your rich ideas,” they declared.

In response, Dr Bawumia expressed heartfelt gratitude to the youth organisers, characterising their gesture as a remarkable show of confidence.

He stated, “The youth organisers of our party across the length and breadth of our party, 490 out of 552, came to me.

“The leadership requested that they wanted to put their widow’s mite together and pick my nomination forms for me. I agreed because that was a remarkable vote of confidence in me.”

This morning, August 13, 2025, they fulfilled the promise they made, collecting the forms from the party’s head office and delivering them directly to him.

“The youth are a major asset of our party and the nation. They represent the future. I want to thank them for this major vote of confidence,” Dr Bawumia continued.

“I am minded to contest the flagbearership of the NPP. I will make a full declaration in that regard when I go to submit the form you have delivered to me,” he added.

He further urged party leaders to maintain decorum throughout the flagbearer race, advocating for a focus on substantive ideas rather than personal insults.
