The Investigation Board tasked with probing the recent Z-9 helicopter crash has been directed to submit its report within 30 days following the official commencement of its work, the Ministry of Defence has stated.

This follows the ministry’s announcement that the official investigation has begun, with preliminary reports expected to be submitted by the end of today, Monday, August 25, 2025.

The Board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator and includes representatives from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The United States of America is supporting the investigation through visiting personnel from the U.S. Air Force.

Acting Defence Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, in a statement indicated that additional experts and institutions, both local and international, may be invited to assist.

“The investigation Board has been mandated to complete its work within 30 days,” parts of the statement released on Monday, August 25, disclosed.

The preliminary investigation team was constituted following the helicopter tragedy on Wednesday, August 6, in which eight high-profile officials, including ministers and personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), lost their lives.
