The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced an expanded registration exercise to include additional delegates in its voter register, ahead of the party’s Presidential Primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

In a formal directive issued from the party’s Presidential Elections Committee, the NPP cited Article 13(1)(1) of its constitution as the legal basis for the inclusion of a wide range of former party officials and dignitaries.

The move is aimed at reinforcing the party’s commitment to inclusive participation and internal democratic processes.

The categories of individuals eligible for registration include: Former Regional, Constituency, Electoral Area, and Polling Station Executives, Members of the National Council of Patrons, Former party-card-bearing Members of Parliament, and Government Appointees.

Others are External Branch Executives, Parliamentary Candidates, and Council of Elders, TESCON Coordinators at all levels, former National, Regional, and Constituency Officers, and former party card-bearing Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

The rest are all former party card-bearing MMDCEs, ten Members from each Regional Council of Elders, as well as ten Patrons from each Region. Five Members of each Constituency Council of Elders and five Patrons from each Constituency.

The registration exercise, which deadline is set for Friday, September 19, 2025, is expected to ensure that all qualified stakeholders are duly captured in the Presidential Primary voter register, thereby enhancing transparency and legitimacy in the party’s electoral process.
