TOR readies for October return as maintenance works progress

Management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) Ltd. has announced steady progress in its Turnaround Maintenance (TAM) project, as the company prepares for a full operational comeback in October 2025.

TOR indicated that its ongoing maintenance works is on track for the much-anticipated return in two months time.

The announcement was shared in an official statement dated August 27, 2025, signed by Managing Director Edmond Kombat, Esq.

According to the statement, “Scaffolding around CDU-1 is 80% completed,” while “twelve out of twenty manways have been opened with 01-C1, C2, C3, and C4 now fully completed” as part of the ongoing maintenance works.

It also notes with the removal of insulation on the heat exchange train that has seen completion.

Highlights of these among other significant milestones in the maintenance work, TOR recognize the vital roles of its weeding team, production, technical, safety and security teams.

“Your vigilance, presence and tireless execution of technically demanding tasks with precision and under the pressure of times are most commendable.,” parts of the statement underscores.

However, TOR said, with challenges of delays in delivering of materials to carry out the exercise, they will continue to be focused and cooperate with other departments to complete the work in stipulated timeline.

“Let’s continue to stay committed, safe and  focused,” the statement urged.

The statement further expressed its outermost gratitude to those contributing to the new wave around TOR.

“On behalf of the entire leadership team, I want to thank everyone for your dedication, resilience and hard work. This turnaround is a team effort, and every role, whether on the field, behind the scenes matters greatly.”
