Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held discussions with the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), H.E. Wamkele Mene, in Accra.
According to the Minister, the talks were refreshing and centered on deepening collaboration as Ghana continues to host the AfCFTA Secretariat.
He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to guaranteeing all privileges and courtesies due to the Secretariat.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized the importance of AfCFTA to Africa’s growth, describing it as a landmark initiative first proposed by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He said the agreement remains central to the continent’s “industrialization and transformation” agenda.
Highlighting Ghana’s focus on economic diplomacy, the Minister noted that leveraging AfCFTA’s market of 1.3 billion Africans with a combined GDP of US$3.4 trillion is an “absolute imperative.”
