The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that players in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) will earn a minimum net monthly salary of GHC 1,500 beginning with the 2026/27 league season.

The policy follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the GFA and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).

Under the new structure, Division One League and Women’s Premier League will also earn a minimum net salary of GHC 700 per month, respectively.

According to the GFA, the new figures will apply to all contracts signed during the next registration window. For players already under contract, the implementation will take effect at the start of the 2026/27 season.

In a statement, the GFA said, the announcement builds on the adoption of a standard contract template for professional footballers, which has already been rolled out across Premier League clubs.

“Building on this foundation, the GFA engaged clubs to deliberate on the introduction of minimum salaries, resulting in the following agreements,’ It said further.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku described the new initiative as commitment of the association to lifting the standard of professional football in the country.
