Ghanaian actress, Vicky Zugah, has advised parents to be realistic about the number of children they give birth to, stressing the importance of providing quality care and education rather than struggling under financial pressure.

In a message shared on her social media platform, the actress  widely known for her role in the movie Agatha revealed that several people had recently reached out to her for financial assistance with their children’s school fees and textbooks. While expressing her willingness to help where possible, she reminded parents to plan ahead.

“Since school has resumed I’ve had a few people reaching out to me to help them pay their kids’ school fees and buy textbooks. I can only do what I can, but I want to remind all of us about something,” she said.

According to Vicky Zugah, certain expenses such as rent, food, and school fees should not come as a surprise to parents.

“Dear parents, school fees is not an emergency, especially if you have kids of school-going age. There are things that are not supposed to be emergencies like rent, if you are not living in your own house, you should know you are definitely going to pay rent and need to set money aside. Food, fees, and rent, these are not emergencies. It shouldn’t hit you like you didn’t know it was coming,” she cautioned.

She further encouraged parents to enroll their children in schools they can afford rather than putting unnecessary pressure on themselves.

“And let’s have the number of kids we can afford to take care of and enroll them in schools we can afford, and stop putting pressure on yourself,” she advised.

Drawing from her personal experience, the actress revealed that she had once wished for a large family but changed her mind after facing the realities of parenthood.

“No one loves children like I do. Growing up, I wanted to have five kids, but after giving birth to two, I realized it’s not as easy as I thought because this is the number I can take care of, even without the support of their father,” she explained.

Vicky Zugah added that she values quality education for her children above simply having many.

“I can equally give birth to 10 kids, but then I want them to go to the schools I couldn’t get the chance to attend and reach levels I couldn’t achieve,” she emphasized.
