President John Dramani Mahama has stated that he remains committed to democratic principles and has no intention of becoming an authoritarian leader.
He maintained that he is not a supreme leader, stressing his adherence to the values of democracy and inclusiveness.
“Look in my face, do I look like a supreme leader? I’m a democrat, true and true. Even when we attained two-thirds of Parliament, I said we’re not going to roughshod over the minority and that we are going to give an opportunity for democracy to flourish,” he said.
Mr. Mahama made this known during his media engagement on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
“Certainly, I’m not on the way to becoming a supreme leader or an autocrat,” Mahama added.
His dismissal comes in the wake of his decision to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, an action that has fueled debate within the political space, especially as the majority holds a two-thirds control in Parliament.
