Renowned preacher and industrialist, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo has died.
The technology icon popularly referred to as the ‘African Star’, passed on peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, according to a statement issued by the family on Sunday.
He was 77.
“Apostle Safo was a true genius, the beacon of hope for many, a father to the fatherless. Ghana has indeed lost a galant son and a true legend,” the statement signed by his daughter and former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
His unique persona was shaped by his life struggles, dreams, resilience, courage, determination and dedication to His calling and conviction.
During this time of grief, we humbly request that the general public respects the privacy of the family and loved ones.
The burial and funeral arrangements shall be duly communicated in the coming days, the familyindicateed.
Biography
Kwadwo Safo Kantanka is a well known Ghanaian preacher, scientist, entrepreneur, philanthropist and founder of Kristo Asafo Church (Christ Reformed Church).
He began his church in 1969 as a prayer group and transformed it on 3rd February 1971 in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo was born at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region of Ghana on August 26, 1948. After his primary and secondary school education, he attended Ghana Technical Works in Kumasi. He proceeded to work as a welder at the Volta Aluminum Company (VALCO) for three years.
Apart from his Christain ministry, he is also a physicist, biologist, chemist, agriculturalists and inventor. He funds his philanthropic exercises with revenues generated from his numerous investments. His church has grown into more than 130 branches in Ghana and abroad. He has branches in London (United Kingdom), Verona (Italy) and the United States.
Apostle Safo is married and blessed with children. Though he has several children, Sarah Adwoa Safo and Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Jnr. are well known. Sarah is a politician and member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency. Kantanka Jnr is an entrepreneur and managing director for his father’s companies.
