An undercover research by a Pressure Group called Eagle Eyesight Spirit has revealed that over 10 communities risk being hit heavily by tidal waves as illegal sand winning takes over the Gomoa Fetteh Sea Defense in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

Speaking to the media on Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Gomoa Fetteh Sea Defense, the Director of the the Investigative Body, Mr. Patrick Ndego mentioned that their investigations have revealed that some people are illegally winning the sand which is serving as defense to the sea, protecting communities from over flowing its banks.

“You have all seen the sea defense wall our forefathers created here at the beach, which now an investigation has proven that some people called Anthony Annan (Nii Borkorborkor) and Charles Greham (Akwasi Alhaji) are the ones winning the sand here and destroying the sea defense,” Mr. Ndego disclosed.

He bemoaned that the activities of the illegal sand winners are putting the lives of the people at risk.

He indicated that communities including, Gomoa Fetteh, Gomoa Nyanyano, Millennium City, Kasoa, Budumburam, Senya Breku, Awutu Breku and other surrounding communities are largely at risk.

He cautioned that, in some time to come, over 250,000 households will be affected by the tidal waves if care is not taken.

Mr Patrick Ndego further called on President John Dramani Mahama and his team to urgently take action by arresting anyone who is involved in this dangerous activity.

“We plead on the President and his experts to arrest Nii Borkorborkor and Kwasi Alhaji so that they face all penalties required because they cannot cause such danger and expect the government to bear the cost,” he appealed.
