A horrific road accident at Wakrom Junction near Yamoransa on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway has claimed five lives and left twelve others injured.

This was confirmed according to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

According to the GNFS, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, its Rescue Team from the Central Regional Headquarters was dispatched following a distress call.

The team arrived at 2:59 p.m. to find a collision involving a DAF Truck (AW 9548-13), carrying 700 bags of rice, and a Toyota Hiace passenger vehicle (GC 9728-21).

Upon arrival, GNFS personnel initiated rescue operations, successfully extricating five victims from the wreckage. Four of those victims were later pronounced dead at the hospital, while one remains in critical condition.

Prior to the GNFS team’s arrival, nine passengers had already been rescued and transported to the hospital. One individual remains trapped in the mangled vehicle, with rescue efforts ongoing.

However, the driver and mate of the DAF Truck escaped the incident unhurt.
