Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jaman South, Andy Bediako has warned that the Telecel takeover of AT could result in over 500 job losses if not handled carefully.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, October 16, 2025, he explained that the takeover could affect not just the AT employees but also ordinary Ghanaians who rely on AT for their livelihoods, including tellers, merchants, and airtime sellers.

“We are looking at a point where if we do not take care, more than 500 Ghanaians are going to lose their jobs, both direct and indirect.

“The indirect will even be more than that because we have people who are tellers and merchants, as well as those who sell the cards,” he stated.

He continued; “So if care is not taken, all these people are going to lose their jobs, even the employees of AT are not happy with the transaction which are about to be made,” he noted.

Mr. Bediako further added that even the employees are unhappy about the impending changes, which have put their jobs at risk, leaving them on the brink of losing their sources of income.
