Managing Director for Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare has urged young girls to pursue careers in aviation.

She emphasised that they are the future leaders of the industry.

During her address at the ‘2025 Girls In Aviation Day’ at Ghana Civil Aviation Authority head office, she noted with delight the growing presence of women in leadership positions and their valuable contributions to the aviation sector.

“As I look around, I am inspired by the bright and curious faces of the young ladies gathered here, you are the future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of not only aviation, but the world at large, the theme for today’s celebration – “Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Aviation” – truly resonates with me.

“Aviation is not just about flying planes, it is about teamwork, Innovation, service and connection – connecting people, cultures, and economies, it is an industry that thrives on passion, discipline, and a desire to make a difference in people’s lives through the power of travel and technology,” she stated.

She continued; “As the Managing Director of GACL, I take great pride in seeing more women rising into leadership roles and making meaningful contributions across various segments of our industry,” she added.

Madam Yvonne Opare advised young ladies to stay curious, acquire new skills, believe in themselves, reiterating that higher education is key to unlocking opportunities, while diligence will sustain them.
