Drama unfolded at an Accra High Court Tuesday, October 28, 2025, when lawyers for the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as ‘Chairman Wontumi’ hurriedly entered the courtroom where he is facing trial.

Chairman Wontumi who is out on bail, was to return to court today for hearing of the case at the Criminal Court Four.

However, neither he nor his lawyers were in court when the case was called, prompting the judge, Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, to issue the warrant for his arrest, Angel News’ Court Correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo reported.

According to the judge, the accused persons or his lawyers did not give any notice to the court regarding their absence.

Minutes later after the warrant was issued, Mr. Antwi Boasiako and his lawyers quickly showed up in court for the case to be called again for hearing to proceed.

Justice Kocuvie-Tay later rescinded the arrest warrant decision following pleas from the accused and his counsel.
