George Krobea slams Attorney General for “Witch-Hunting” tactics in corruption cases

Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, has criticised the Attorney General (A.G), Dr. Dominic Ayine, regarding the alleged scandals involving political actors in the country.

Mr. Asante argued that the manner in which the Attorney General executes justice resembles “witch-hunting,” asserting that allegations of corruption should not be politically characterised.

He made these remarks during the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

He stated that the process of administering justice, which is influenced by political favour, undermines Ghanaians’ confidence in the Attorney General’s competence.

He insisted that there should be no differences in how corruption cases are approached.

He also pointed out that when the Attorney General makes public statements about ongoing cases, it can lead to premature verdicts.

“It is not the Attorney General’s responsibility to decide who will go to jail; that decision lies solely within the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court,” he said.

Mr. Krobea emphasised that the burden of proof lies with the prosecutor and that it is not the state’s duty to conduct investigations in the manner the Attorney General is doing.

He believes that such behaviour risks subjecting accused individuals to public opinion, potentially causing public disaffection.

“The Attorney General’s conduct is unprofessional,” Mr. Krobea concluded.
