Husbands should check wives’ breasts for cancer, not just pleasure – Dr Essel

The Manager of Royal Natural Health Clinic, Dr. Joel Essel, has advised that men should massage their wives’ breasts to check for any changes that might indicate breast cancer.

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), hosted by Ohemaa Sakyiwaa, during the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) Pink October 2025 Free Breast Screening Program, Dr. Essel stated that men should not only suck breasts for satisfaction but also look out for irregularities.

“Men shouldn’t always press breast for feelings sake but look out for changes in the main breast, the lump and colour changes in the breast,” he said.

Dr. Essel further expressed that men should learn to examine their wives’ breasts. He also advised that men should accompany their wives to the hospital for breast screening to observe how it is done.

“Follow your wives to the hospital for breast examination, so that you can learn how it’s done,” he said, urging men to be very observant, especially when their wives are breastfeeding their babies, to note any abnormalities.

“We advocate that we do regular checkups, instead of waiting for October, to prevent developing cancer in the breast.”

Dr. Essel also advised women not to always wear bras to allow the breasts to feel comfortable and relaxed.
