Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has introduced a new Customer Notifications Service aimed at keeping licence holders informed about their renewal and replacement dates through SMS alerts.

According to the DVLA, the initiative will allow customers to receive timely notifications before and after their licences expire.

The service provides two key notifications, Pre-Expiration Alert and Expiration Reminder.

The pre-expiration alert notifies customers before their licence renewal or replacement date expires, while the expiration reminder sends a second prompt after the licence has expired.

DVLA said the move is to ensure all customers remain informed about upcoming expiration dates for their licences, helping them stay compliant and avoid inconvenience.

The Authority expressed its commitment to improving customer service through digital solutions that make its operations more efficient and accessible.
